The Red Army made extensive use of medium-calibre mortars throughout the Great Patriotic War, with the 82mm M-37 and M-41 types being the most widely deployed. Simple, reliable, and almost foolproof in operation, these weapons provided Soviet infantry with a vital source of indirect fire support across every theatre of the Eastern Front.

In Bolt Action, medium mortars are a cornerstone of any Heavy Weapons Platoon. Capable of arcing fire over the heads of friendly troops and crucially ignoring cover when they hit their targets, a well-positioned mortar team directed by spotters can control vast areas of the battlefield and pin down even the most stubborn enemy positions.
