The M4A2 Sherman was the diesel-powered variant of the iconic Sherman tank, powered by a GM 6046 twin diesel engine. While seeing limited combat in US Army hands, it became the preferred Lend-Lease delivery for the Soviet Union — which operated an all-diesel tank fleet — and served extensively with the British Commonwealth as the Sherman Mk III and with the US Marine Corps across the Pacific. Over 10,968 were produced across six factories between April 1942 and July 1945.
