Soviet Self-Propelled Firepower on the T-34 Chassis

Built on the proven T-34 chassis, the SU-85 and SU-122 were two of the Soviet Union's most important self-propelled guns of the Second World War. The SU-85 mounted an 85mm anti-tank gun capable of defeating German medium armour at combat ranges, while the SU-122 carried a 122mm howitzer for devastating close-support fire against infantry and fortifications. Both vehicles served extensively on the Eastern Front from 1943 onwards, providing Soviet armoured formations with flexible, hard-hitting fire support.
