A light, warm sandy yellow with a subtle dusty tone, Vallejo Model Color Desert Yellow (70.977) is a staple highlight and mid-tone colour for desert camouflage, arid basing, sun-bleached armour, and bone effects on miniatures and scale models. Lighter and more muted than Yellow Ochre, it excels as a highlight layer or standalone basecoat for pale, sun-scorched desert subjects.

Recommended Use

Use as a mid-tone or highlight layer over Yellow Ochre or Flat Brown basecoats for desert armour and basing. Layer up with Vallejo Pale Sand or Ivory for the brightest highlights, or shade down with Yellow Ochre for deeper sand tones. Ideal for zenithal highlighting over dark brown primers on desert vehicles and infantry. Thin with distilled water or Vallejo Airbrush Thinner for airbrushing.
